After the drawing was done I started painting.Using oils I decided on two main colours for the skin corresponding to the tanned and pale areas she had aquirred during the summer. These were venetian red, yellow ochre and titanium white for the redder parts, with more white and terre vert added for the whiter areas. The above is the result after about one hours painting. I have no idea where this painting is going to go and how it will turn out, that is what is good about working from a drawing, you are free to go in any direction you wish.
Whenever I finish a big painting I look for something not too challenging to give myself a break for a bit and decided to transpose this drawing into a painting.  I first stained a linen canvas with transparent red oxide then when it was dry, using a grid and a set of protractors plotted the drawing onto the canvas with a pencil, as above.
